Description:
This personal project was inspired by my love for design and creativity, manifesting itself in a car. This 9 month project involved buying a totaled 1997 Mustang GT and rebuilding it into a street legal minimum weight vehicle. After purchasing the car for $600, my roommate, brother, and I set out stripping all unnecessary weight and adding a roll cage in its place. This involved, cutting almost all body panels to fabricate and weld a roll cage in its place. In total, we removed an estimated 1200lbs of extra weight. An aftermarket gas tank and fuel pump were installed along with new headlights, brake lines, intake, radiator, seats, harnesses, steering wheel and more. When finished, the car was entered into a competition hosted by internet media company, Hoonigan. The joy and knowledge that this project has brought me and others has been invaluable both in its creation and use.
